Nasha Monique Douglas

Brand Manager

Heineken Jamaica

How did you land the job?

It was a warm and sunny day in September when I was happily toiling away as the Flow Marketing Manager. I received an email from a colleague advising me of potential job openings at Diageo/Red Stripe. Having grown up with the desire to work at Red Stripe it was only natural that I applied for it. I submitted my resume online and within two days received my first interview by phone from the Diageo office in Miami. Two more interviews followed and within a week I was told I would be the new Heineken Brand Manager.

How long have you been in the job?

An exciting, fast paced eight months

What's great about your job?

The greatest thing about my job is that I sell beer... so no two days are alike. The hustle and bustle of growing a premium FMCG brand like Heineken makes everyday feel like my first day.

Tell us something that we might not know about the brand Best Heineken.

Heineken is 139 years young. Established on Jan 1. 1873, the brand is now brewed by 140 breweries in 71 countries around the world. In October 2013 Heineken will be celebrating its 40th year of being brewed at Red Stripe Jamaica.

Where can consumers find out more about your brand?

They can check out our website at www.heineken.com

Thursday Food shares a Heineken Beer Steak Marinade Recipe.

Heineken Beer Steak Marinade

Ingredients

2 cups Heineken beer

1 cup soy sauce

3 tablespoons minced green onions

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

3 tablespoons Tabasco sauce

4 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Method

1. Pour Heineken beer, soy sauce, minced green onions, vegetable oil, dried thyme, Tabasco pepper sauce, and fresh lemon juice into mixing bowl.

2. Stir marinade really well, then toss on a lid and let the mixture chill for about an hour, as this will ensure the flavours are blended together.

3. Once chilled, stir a bit more, and it is ready for your steaks.

4. Pour some of the marinade on to the steaks. Leave for 30 minutes until ready to cook.

5. Baste steaks with remaining marinade, while they sizzle on the barbecue.
