Jonathan Archie, acting assistant registrar of Examination at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Mona Campus, wed Alecia Walters, course delivery supervisor at UWI, Open Campus, Academic Programming and Delivery, on March 24, 2012 at the University Chapel, UWI, Mona. Vows shares their journey to the altar.

Jonathan Archie and Alecia Walters met on the UWI staff bus on their way to work in March of 2004. After the initial introduction, the two exchanged contacts and immediately became good friends. Jonathan and Alecia would talk for hours on the phone and matched that equally with the time they spent together. Soon, their friendship would blossom into something special. Perhaps it was the first kiss that gave them a clue, but as Alecia describes it, "It was magical, and it all became clear to us then." The pair were deeply in love.

They dated for six years. According to Alecia, they grew to understand each other better. Soon they felt as though they were already one, and their union produced a beautiful baby boy, Jayce Archie, in 2009.

Upon his return to the island, after a three-day visit to New York last September, Jonathan had something in store for his lady. "He began to tell me how much he loved and cared for me and our son," Alecia recalled. "He told me he would be there for us for the rest of our lives. Then he asked, 'Will you marry me?'" Surprised at his request, Alecia asked Jonathan if it was a proposal. To Jonathan's affirmative answer, Alecia rebutted, "But Jon, you're not on your knees." After going down on one knee, Jonathan asked again, "Will you marry me?" Alecia beamed from ear to ear. She was ecstatic, but couldn't stop teasing her beau: "Jon, you need to lift me up and ask again." Jon obliged willingly. An overjoyed Alecia finally answered, "Yes".

The planning of the wedding began. Alecia shared with Vows that she chose the colours olive green and fuchsia because she believed they worked perfectly together. On March 24, 2012, Alecia and Jonathan would seal their union at the University Chapel. Officiating minister Pastor Napoleon Black commenced the ceremony and Jonathan would watch his beautiful bride slide up the aisle alongside her father, to the tune of Joy Williams' I'm In Love With You. Clutching a bouquet of orchids and carnations stringed with pearls, Alecia met her groom at the altar and the two exchanged vows.

The wedding reception followed at the Courtleigh Hotel, where the newly-weds opened the dancefloor to Mariah Carey's Thank God I Found You. "I felt a renewed love for Jonathan," Alecia shared with Vows. "I was overwhelmed with joy and happiness and I also felt blessed because there was no rain. I had prayed for a beautiful and dry day and that was my wedding gift from God."
