Popping with Flavour

Shelf Talk

Thursday, February 09, 2012

SOME like it hot, some like it spicy, and some like it sweet: that's the brilliant concept behind the new spicy trio — sweet and spicy, green Scotch bonnet, and Scotch bonnet — of Grace Scotch Bonnet Pepper Sauces. With a need to meet the growing demand for a range of exciting new pepper sauces that include different flavours and spice levels, locally grown peppers were processed and tested among local and international consumers. After receiving positive feedback on the product, the

company introduced the Grace Scotch Bonnet Pepper Sauces to the market.

"Our new product is proving to be a hit, and feedback from the catering community has confirmed our suspicions that Grace Scotch Bonnet Pepper Sauces are the hottest new way to make a meal pop with flavour. We have also heard that the spicy trio has found its place as the perfect taste-of-home gift for friends in the diaspora," shared Rachael Browne, brand manager of Scotch Bonnet Pepper Sauces at Grace Foods and Services.

The sauces, which were launched quietly over a year ago, were gradually introduced to retailers and food specialists around the island. Ingredients include a range of hot variants made from Scotch bonnet, others made from the Jamaica red pepper of medium spiciness, and the sweet and spicy sauce using a mixture of hot and sweet peppers. "We are particularly pleased that we were able to develop such a strong product range using the variety of peppers grown right here in

Jamaica. The formula is simple, just the perfect mix of hot, sweet and tangy. A combination of Jamaican Scotch bonnet peppers, Jamaican red peppers, sugar, vinegar and spices," Browne explained.

The sauces each retail between $120 and $130 inclusive of tax, and can be found on supermarket shelves islandwide.
