Necessary Luxury - Ian 'Ity' Ellis

Comedian/Entertainer

My Digicel BlackBerry is a must! I am definitely one of those persons who will turn my car around, if I've left home without it. My Digicel BlackBerry is a necessary part of my every waking day for all things creative and all things business. I am on Facebook, I tweet, I get reminders, plus I awake to the phone alarm every single day. Recently I downloaded the latest OS; I have not done that in nearly two years, so right now I am busy getting used to these new features.

My Sony 560V micro-cassette voice recorder is another necessary luxury: my work as a comedian involves taking regular notes of all occurrences around me. Well, not all, but everything that gets my creative humour juices flowing. For that single reason, I keep my recorder near. This is Jamaica, things are always happening, funny... I mean hilarious stuff. Right now the material on it is rat-infested because of the recent happenings at that prominent educational institution on Red Hills road. Mighty Mouse! That's the name being thrown at them after their recent success at Champs and in Schools' Challenge Quiz.

There's my Nautica Voyage: This is the new scent that follows me around these days. I don't forget it either, because it's endorsed by the ladies working in the various offices on the top floor of The Business Centre. Because of its clean, non-overpowering, fresh scent, I am the daily winner of free hugs.

I am actively involved in the operations of Ellis International, producers of that infamous sketch comedy television series, the Ity and Fancy Cat Show. That's the side of me that most people don't know.

Without my HP laptop, work and communication would be nigh impossible. A previous one was stolen out of my car so now, this one has a security guard assigned to it, Reneto Adams style:.

Moisturiser SPF 15 for my hands... yes, I like my hands moist and my breath fresh, hence my Extra Fruit Sensations - my sweet watermelon- flavoured gum is a must-have. I am always chewing. Everybody who knows me knows that. I like to practise safe breath. Finally, The Outliers- I have hopped onto the Malcolm Gladwell train. He's the award-winning best-selling author of Jamaican background, making waves internationally since the publication of his first best-seller, The Tipping Point. I read that. And now I am completing The Outliers - the story of success. An excellent read!
