How did you land this job:
I always wanted to work with a multinational company, as I strongly think that in any marketing career it is critical to have multinational experience, as they are primarily innovators, very strategic and business savvy opening the doors for you to enhance your experiences and skills, developing well-rounded and great marketing gurus. Specifically, Unilever has always been at the top of my aspirations regarding employment, and I had expressed an interest as they are one of the only companies in the world with over 400 brands focusing on health and well-being, touching people's lives positively in so many ways.
An opportunity opened in the Jamaican market, and as such I was contacted by a head hunter in Trinidad where I conducted myriad interviews, which clearly I did well, as I was promoted to the final step of meeting with the Unilever team from Dominican Republic, as the Jamaican market reports directly to this country. The interview was clearly successful as I was the candidate of choice.
How long have you been in this job?
I have been working with Unilever since June 2012, approximately eight wonderful and rewarding months.
What is great about your job?
Each and every day is plagued with different challenges, as Jamaica has a very competitive landscape. But with this, it keeps my mind very active with the drive, energy and commitment to achieve my company's goal. In addition, the high level of teamwork among the Unilever Greater Caribbean team motivates me as there is great support in achieving my company's goal. Overall, I love that the organisational culture fosters creativity and diversity, allowing me to think outside the box and trying new techniques to grow our business. I love that my job further develops my leadership skills in light of the major decisions that I am expected to make on a daily basis. Finally, I enjoy the exposure to different cultures which I garner from the different countries that I have visited since working with Unilever.

Firstly, with regards to our foods portfolio, we continually work to improve the nutritional quality and taste of all our products. We develop new products, increase consumer choice, provide consumers with clear information, and seek to use our consumer communications to encourage the adoption of healthy habits. Overall, we have 14 food brands in Jamaica.
