Dear Editor,

I was watching the nightly newscast on Friday and was appalled at the sight of the nomination candidate for Portland Eastern riding on the back of a motor bike with her husband and the two were not wearing any helmets.

And yet we wonder why many young people do not vote when we see such poor signs of leadership.

The police would have arrested others who do not wear helmets, so why allow these two to do so?

Is it any wonder the two political parties can get away with convoys of buses with supporters who ride on top of them, hang out of windows, and speed through intersections, when they are afraid of telling them that it is for their own safety.

Leadership is not just doing the right thing when it suits them, but doing the right thing all the time.

Conscious One
