Dear Editor,

Is there cause for a lawsuit when a courier company accepts payment to deliver a package sent from Florida, USA; sends out a note to the addressee saying the package will be delivered on a given date; yet fails to deliver said package as promised?

When contacted by phone about the failure a representative said owing to the backlog the packages cannot be delivered for another two weeks.

This is what DHL has done to me regarding a package that which should have been delivered on Wednesday, December 6, 2017.

As a no-nonsense senior citizen I told the representative that such a response was unacceptable and untenable. She politely suggested that I could go and clear the package myself at the airport.

So what did my son pay the courier charges for? For his elderly father, who no longer drives, to find his way to the airport because a courier company reneges on a delivery contract?

This kind of practice should not be tolerated if we hope to achieve our Vision 2030, or is the target date 3020?
