Dear Editor,

Everyone loves a 'rags to riches' story. The UK X Factor has produced mega stars like One Direction and Susan Boyle, Leona Lewis, some of whom didn't even win their seasons and were nothing prior to their success on the show.

So let us not try to undermine Dalton's success. It is never easy to win a show like this based on the high volume of entries which start at the audition round, then the gruelling process thereafter, trying to earn judges recognition and earn votes to keep advancing. Dalton raised the bar each week, earning a standing ovation from all judges and becoming the contestant with the highest sales on iTunes.

The final song, The power of love, featuring 2012 UK X Factor winner James Arthur, was spectacular and sealed Dalton's fate — if anyone had any doubts. The powerful duet might've also given Arthur a much-needed boost, since no one really remembered him.

Congrats, Dalton, continue soaring. You deserve your success. You've represented yourself and your country with class, dignity and humility.
