Dear Editor,

With the recently held by-elections now over, it is time to get back to the matters at hand.

While our current Government fights desperately to control crime across the island, other issues on the books are yet to be looked at.

1. The prime minister and his Cabinet have yet to address the issues highlighted in the Office of the Contractor General's report into the de-bushing and drain-cleaning programme valued at some $600 million, in which sitting Members of Parliament and Cabinet ministers have been allegedly involved, drawing the integrity of the House into question.

2. Audley Shaw's phone bill of $8 million, which we the taxpayers have to foot, remains without sanction, while we have not seen wage increases for our nurses or pension increases through the national scheme. This is all still in abeyance.

3. The state of the nation's roads, which we have to be blocking in order to get the attention of our MPs, and so much more, has not improved.

This is not what we were promised, Sir!

So, Mr PM, now that you have dried your feet after crossing that river in St Mary, please roll up your sleeves and deal with issues that are affecting us all.

Hans Williams
