Work with your MP
On more than four occasions in the last eight years I have had reason to work with MP Ed Bartlett on community issues, including concerns about roads, water and crime. I have had the most gracious experience on all occasions and want to take this opportunity to congratulate Mr Bartlett for being a most accessible, polite and hardworking politician, even though, sadly, I am not on the voters' list.
He has always gone beyond the call of duty to have our problems addressed. Furthermore, I know it must have been difficult all these years as he was an Opposition MP at first and a very busy minister in his second term.
In the end I believe it is important that citizens make an honest effort to contact their member of parliament when they have issues. MPs, to my knowledge, have a constituency office with at least one secretary on staff. As we strive to improve our communities, let us all work hand in hand with our MPs and be ever mindful of the obvious stress that these MPs are under on a day-to-day basis dealing with a plethora of brutal infrastructure and societal challenges.
