Money, sex, power

If money go before,

All ways do lie open.

— Shakespeare, The Merry Wives of Windsor, II, 2

Then everything includes itself in power,

Power into will, will into appetite, and appetite a universal wolf.

— Shakespeare, Truilus and Cressida, I, 3

Everything in life is about money, sex and power, usually in that order too. At least that's how it appears and may very well be true. You know what they say, perception is as good as fact. They may stand alone, maybe in tandem, but to have money, sex and power all the time is the ultimate trifecta, nirvana, bliss, joy, unbridled pleasure.

The truth is, if you have money, then power and sex will surely follow. And if you have power, then money and sex will beat a path to your door. If you offer sex though, what do you get in return? If you play your cards right, money and power too. Some ladies know how to handle themselves and make their own fortune.

It's a delicate balance that's often juggled with great dexterity, depending on whether you're a man or a woman. Someone once said, “Remove sex from a relationship and you will discover that over 90 per cent of women have nothing to offer. Remove money from a relationship and you will discover that over 90 per cent of women see no reason to be in that relationship.”

It wasn't me who said that, but there is more than a grain of truth in it. In fact, it smacks of wisdom of the ages and should be emblazoned in bronze somewhere as history has proven it to be true.

Money, sex, power, I'll explore that three-headed dragon right after these responses to 'Old oil'.

Hi Tony,

I have also seen cases on the other side of the frying pan, fathers who abuse their wives leave the son defending the mother and vowing never to treat their significant other the same when they grow up. Some women who are treated badly by their husbands draw closer to their sons who may turn out to be a mama's boy. I suppose where old oil does fry, there are also cases where the oil gets cold and is thrown out.

Teerob,

That assessment of old oil frying a new individual is so true. I am married to this woman whose first husband treated her badly and I'm catching hell. Every reference from her is about how he used to treat her. If I open my mouth to speak, I'm accused of being just like him, so I've learned to keep my mouth shut. But even that backfires, as she then accuses me of being moody, malicing her and being spiteful, just like he used to be. Old oil, emotional baggage, old crosses are all the same, they are thrown on whomever happens to come along next.

Ricardo

What I found most interesting is that there are so many references to money, sex and power in the Bible. “But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil.” 1 Timothy.

Proverbs says, “He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man, as he loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.”

There are so many references to money, power and pleasures of the flesh in the good book, but I daresay they all fall on deaf ears. Nothing is pursued by man and woman as that three-headed dragon that often consumes those who chase after it.

Cerberus was the three-headed dog from Greek mythology who guarded the gates of Hades, but this beast of money, sex and power may very well beckon at the gates of Hell as it entices people to enter.

The pursuit is relentless and frenetic and both sexes have their own modus operandi to get what they want. Let's examine the quote about taking sex away from a relationship and the woman has nothing else to offer. True or false? A woman's trump card, her weapon of man's destruction, her big stick, her magic wand, her ace in the hole, her carrot that she dangles before the jackass, is sex. Take that away, and she has nothing.

A woman is bestowed with beauty, allure, sexuality that draws the man to her. He sees her, likes what he sees, is filled with desire and ultimately wants to get close to her. Why? To have sex of course.

Anyone who doesn't believe that truth is not only blinded but lives under a rock somewhere in oblivion. Do an experiment, get next to an attractive woman who's also very bright. Woo her, wine and dine her, then have her tell you that she's not interested in sex. See how quickly you beat a hasty retreat.

“Say what, after I spent all that money taking you on dates, buying you Japanese and Chinese food, perfume and jewellery and now you're saying no sex? What else do you have to offer?”

I put it to you also, who would you choose to get involved with or marry, Miss sexual dunce woman, or Miss sexless bright MBA? That's a reality that exists, and no matter how you sugar-coat it, if the man isn't getting sex, he's out the door, down the street where he'll seek it elsewhere.

There are so many beautiful women who have no man because they have no interest in sex. Some may say, “Oh, I have other things to offer, such as my intellect, my wit, my education.” Not a chance, if sex isn't a part of the equation, then it's goodbye.

The other half of the quote says that if you take money out of the relationship, then the woman will have no interest in that relationship. That's another home truth that many women will take umbrage with until they really give it a second thought.

No money, no love. You can't make love pon hungry belly, are but two of the sayings that corroborate this fact. Now, of course, some women are going to say, “Oh no, I'm not like that, I will love the man for who he is, money or not.”

It simply does not happen, as the reality stares us in the face every day, a woman will gravitate to the man who has the means to take care of her and provide for her. Money not only makes the mare go around, but brings her into oestrus too. Why do you think so many DJs, sportsmen, politicians, ugly as sin, have so many beautiful women? It's because they have money. Take it away and see how many women stay with them. And let those women stop having sex with them and see how long they remain in the entourage.

Yes, money and power are the greatest aphrodisiac. For that reason the men with the most money will get the pick of the most attractive women. But she had better deliver, for take away her sex and she has nothing to offer. “What you tek this fah, you just siddung suh and look pretty every day and nah let off nutten?”

And the man had better deliver too, for take away his money and he has nothing to offer. Interestingly, it doesn't work the other way around, for if the man has money but offers no sex, she will remain with him, but if she takes away the sex, he'll be out of the relationship.

Is it that men value sex over money and women value money over sex? Women will live without sex if the balm of money soothes her itch. But men will not live without sex. Just look around at those beautiful women who are involved with those old gnarled, wrinkly old men who could be their fathers. What do all of these men have in common? Money or power.

Never will you see a young beautiful woman involved with a poor old man. Neither will you see a virile man involved with a woman who does not offer sex as a part of the deal.

“Errol, your wife so criss and sexy, why you leave her?”

“Ah bwoy, she had no interest in sex.”

I have known women who have left their men because they lost their money. Remember, No Money, No Love is not only a popular song, but a reality.

Born in this world and

I say it's, no money ,no love, no money, no love,

In case you will not hear it again

It's no money, no love

It's sure you love me now

As the world is in my favour

Watch me while I disappear

No money, no love.”

Sounds so cold, but it's a harsh reality that has existed forever. Men have money, women have sex. Take those both away and they have nothing to offer.

More time.

Footnote: There has always been this debate about primary schools versus prep schools and which is better for children. Some say prep because they offer smaller classes and specialised teaching. Others say primary because they prepare the children better for the real world, being tougher. Well, the table has turned. Right now many prep schools are advertising for students, even as primary schools have to be turning back students as demand is so great. What I will ask though is, how do parents feel when they watch Junior Schools Challenge and see how many primary schools are outshining the prep schools? This year there were three primary schools in the semi-finals. George Headley Primary won last year.
