UPDATE: Leeward Islands 146-5 at tea

Saturday, January 13, 2018

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica Scorpions are closing in on victory on the penultimate day in their regional four-day game as they have pegged Leeward Islands Hurricanes to 146-5 at the tea interval here at Sabina Park.

The Hurricanes will require a further 116 runs for victory with five wickets in hand when they return from the  20-minute break.  However, rains which swept across the venue shortly after the players left the field, will cause a delay to the resumption.

Middle order batsman Devon Thomas, who was previously contracted with the Scorpions, have so far led the Hurricanes batting with a well-played 52, while opening batsman Montcin Hodge (45) fell five runs short of what would have been a deserved half-century.

Leg-spinner Damion Jacobs has so far grabbed 2-68, while John Campbell has 2-5 from his three overs.

Scores: Scorpions 197 (59.1 ovs) and 235 (59.1 ovs); Hurricanes 171 (78.3 ovs) and 146-5 (51 ovs).
