ST ANDREW, Jamaica — A taxi driver who was trying to elude the police yesterday collided with another car on Waterloo Road in St Andrew leaving numerous people injured.

The number of injured passengers was unconfirmed but a woman who said she witnessed the crash said a baby vomited uncontrollably after being taken from one if the vehicles. The baby was rushed to the hospital by the police, the woman said.

“I was heading towards MegaMart when I heard a brake screaming behind me. When I looked in my rear view mirror I saw a vehicle behind me swerving side-to-side and a police car behind chasing him.

“I knew it was a taxi ... so I pulled off the road to the side. The vehicle passed me a little and collided with the car that was coming in the opposite direction. People started to converge. The policeman came out of his vehicle, pulled his firearm, and ordered the taxi driver out,” the alleged eyewitness told OBSERVER ONLINE via telephone.

The crash caused a pile-up of traffic on Waterloo Road.
