Suspect in murder of elderly St Thomas couple charged

ST THOMAS, Jamaica — The St Thomas police have charged the suspect who was arrested in relation to the double murder of an elderly couple, in Retreat, St Thomas on Tuesday, January 9.

Charged with two counts of murder and two counts of robbery with aggravation is 25-year-old Fabian Skervin, a farmer of Tulip Road and Soho district both in Seaforth, St Thomas.

He is scheduled to appear in the St Thomas Parish court on Wednesday, February 21.

He was arrested in Seaforth district on Wednesday, February 7.

The elderly couple, 81-year-old Melbourne Flake and his wife, 70-year-old Etta Flake, were found about 10:30 am on January 9 at their home motionless with their hands and feet bound. The police were alerted and they were both taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead.
