MANCHESTER, Jamaica — The police have arrested a man they say was among a group of men who broke into a hardware in Walderston, Manchester this morning.

The lawmen said they were summoned to the scene about 2:10 am when the men were seen committing the act.

According to the constabulary's Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), the responding officers approached the men, who reportedly responded with gunfire.

CCU said the police officers returned gunfire and the men fled, leaving behind their alleged accomplice, whose identity is currently being withheld.

The area was searched and a Browning 9mm pistol and four 9mm rounds of ammunition found.
