KINGSTON, Jamaica — One person has been arrested and is expected to be charged in last month's murder of police corporal Melvin Smith in Mandeville, Manchester.

Police Commissioner George Quallo made the revelation via his Twitter page yesterday afternoon.
Quallo did not state when the suspect would be charged but used the medium to express gratitude to the public for their “hard work and support”.

Corporal Smith was shot dead in the Manchester capital after he tried to apprehend criminals who had earlier carried out a robbery in the popular central Jamaica town.
