St James, Hanover police seize two firearms

ST JAMES, Jamaica – Police in St James and Hanover are reporting the seizure of two firearms and a number of assorted rounds of ammunition, which took place on Wednesday, October 10.

The first seizure occurred in Gordon Crescent, Granville in St James where officers conducting an operation about 7:40 am, seized an M16 rifle with a magazine containing thirty 5.56 rounds of ammunition.

The second incident occurred between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm, in Chester Castle, Hanover during a special operation. An unfinished concrete structure was searched and a .37 revolver and four .37 rounds of ammunition were found in a bag, which also contained four masks.

No one was taken into custody in relation to the seizures, the police said.
