KINGSTON, Jamaica — A minibus crash on the Spring Gardens main road along the north-eastern leg of the North Coast Highway this morning has left several people injured.

Reports are that the accident happened as the bus, which is licensed to travel from Hector's River to Ocho Rios, was travelling westerly from Port Antonio to Annotto Bay about 7:30 am.

The bus reportedly veered off the road and travelled for some distance before crashing into a tree.

Rosalee Edwards, a passenger on the bus, said her daughter was among those injured on the bus.

"I took the bus at Hope Bay with my daughter Tiffany Palmer going to Ocho Rios and when the bus reach Spring Gardens it start to spin around and run off the road [sic]. My daughter [sic] foot is broken and she's in the Annotto Bay Hospital," she said.

Reports are that approximately 15 of about 20 people on the bus were carried to the Annotto Bay Hospital after the accident.

The Buff Bay Police are investigating.
