Weekly Round-up: Billion dollar junction…Nine people killed in 24 hours… Reggae Boyz striker facing felony chargesSaturday, February 22, 2020
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The rehabilitation of the Junction main road in St Mary is set to cost just over $1 billion, almost twice the amount originally budgeted.
The project, which began in November 2017 and should have been completed in January 2019, is more than a year behind schedule and currently has no set completion date.
The island's murder rate spiked on Wednesday into Thurdsay morning as nine people were fatally shot and four individuals, including a two-year-old boy, were left nursing gunshot wounds in a bloody 24 hours across the island.
And in sports, Reggae Boyz striker, 29-year-old Darren Mattocks, is facing two felonies in the United States.
