KINGSTON, Jamaica — Petrojam Limited will on Thursday name its corporate office building “The Edward Seaga Building”, in honour of former prime minister, Edward Seaga.

General manager of Petrojam, Floyd Grindley noted that the gesture, piloted by Minister of Science, Energy and Technology Dr Andrew Wheatley, is in recognition of Seaga's contribution to national development, particularly his visionary role in ensuring Jamaica's energy security through his spearheading of the purchase of the Petrojam Refinery in 1982.

Under his leadership, Seaga through the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica (PCJ) purchased the refinery from ESSO West Indies.

This signalled the birth of Petrojam, which was given the mandate to be the least cost supplier of quality petroleum products to the Jamaican market.

Attendees at the event will include Prime Minister Andrew Holness, Dr Wheatley, among other government officials, staff and other specially invited guests.
