Pedal cyclist killed as car overturns in Portland crash

KINGSTON, Jamaica — A pedal cyclist died tragically last night when he was hit by a motor vehicle as it overturned during a crash on Allan Avenue in Port Antonio, Portland.

Cheswick Buchanan, of an Anchovy address in the parish, sustained multiple injuries during the incident and was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead, the police are reporting.

According to the lawmen, a Toyota Wish motor car was turning onto Allan Avenue about 9:00pm when it was struck by a Toyota Fielder motorcar that was coming down Smatt Road.

It is said that the impact caused the Toyota Wish to overturn, hitting Buchanan.

The police said investigations are ongoing.
