KINGSTON, Jamaica – Plans are advanced in the preparation for the inter-parliamentary workshop being held under the theme “Partnerships to Transform Gender Relations.”

The workshop, which will take place on January 24 and 25 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, is a collaborative effort between the Jamaican Parliament and ParlAmericas, an inter-Parliamentary association with membership across North, Central and South America and the Caribbean.

The meeting will be hosted by Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport Olivia Grange and will see participation from parliamentarians and gender experts from eleven countries.

Participants will exchange successful strategies that have been employed to address these problems in their respective countries, highlighting the critical importance of transforming gender norms and working in partnership with diverse stakeholders.

Grange described the event as an opportunity to “discuss gender equality and gender mainstreaming and to address the issues that affect our women and our men.”
