Constable Collis 'Chucky' Brown has been found guilty on all charges including three counts of murder this afternoon.

2. BoJ's Chevano Baker is 2019 Rhodes Scholar

Bank of Jamaica (BoJ) staffer Chevano Baker is the 2019 Rhodes Scholar. The announcement was made at Kings House earlier this afternoon following a round of intense interviews with a panel comprising previous Rhodes Scholars.

3. Canadian arrested after drug-sniffing dog leads cops to cocaine at NMIA

A Canadian man is to face the court tomorrow, following his arrest at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston when a quantity of cocaine was reportedly found in his luggage.

4. House approves $223-m withdrawal from CDF

The House of Representatives has approved the withdrawal of $223 million from the Capital Development Fund (CDF) to provide budgetary support to the Jamaica Bauxite Institute (JBI) for the 2018/19 financial year.

5. Level of cronyism at USF alarming, says PNP

The People's National Party's (PNP) Shadow Minister of Science and Technology, Julian Robinson, today expressed shock at news emerging from testimony before the Public Administration and Appropriations Committee (PAAC), that some 24 qualified candidates had submitted applications for the position of Executive Director of the Universal Service Fund (USF) but they were tossed aside in favour of someone with Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) membership who was not qualified to fill the post.

6. Nude body of unidentified woman found in St Ann

The body of an unidentified woman was found naked with multiple stab wounds, in Phase 2, Runaway-Bay, St Ann yesterday.

7. Red Stripe donates beers to Jamaica50 Time Capsule

Beer manufacturer Red Stripe Jamaica has donated an assortment of Red Stripe beers to be placed in the Jamaica50 Time Capsule that will be sealed at the Bank of Jamaica (BoJ) downtown Kingston to be opened in 2062.

8. JAMPRO, PICA to collaborate on improving int'l investment

The Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) and the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to partner on initiatives that will make investing in Jamaica “an easier process for international investors”.

9. 5,000 applications for road licences under public transport project

The Transport Authority has already received approximately 5,000 applications for road licences under the Public Transport Liberalisation Pilot.

10. Cuba set to debate draft constitution paving the way for gay marriage

A draft new constitution for Cuba that paves the way for same-sex marriage as well as the right to private property was ready to go before lawmakers on Thursday for fine-tuning ahead of a referendum next year.
