Motorist dies after crashing into tree in St Ann

ST ANN, Jamaica — One man is dead and another in critical condition at hospital following a motor vehicle crash on the Ocho Rios Bypass in St Ann early this morning.

According to the police, 39-year-old Sekou Phipps of a St Mary address, was driving a Honda Civic motor car with a passenger aboard towards the town centre when he allegedly lost control of the motor vehicle, which ran off the road and crashed into a tree.

Phipps and the other man, who was a passenger in the motor vehicle, were taken to hospital, where Phipps was pronounced dead and the other man admitted.

The crash occurred about 4:00 am. The Ocho Rios police are investigating.
