Manhunt for masked men who shot Trelawny cop

TRELAWNY, Jamaica — The Trelawny police have launched a manhunt for two masked men who reportedly shot and injured a police corporal at his house inside a gated community in the parish on Monday.

Reports are that about 2:00 pm, the cop and a female friend arrived at the house and noticed that it was broken into.

While assessing the premises, the lawman was pounced upon by two masked gunmen. A tussle reportedly ensued and the policeman was shot in the right thigh and stabbed in the left arm.The female companion was unhurt.

The armed men then fled the scene.

The police corporal, who is assigned to the Stewart Town Police Station in Trelawny, was taken to the Falmouth Public General Hospital where he underwent surgery.

The Falmouth police are investigating.
