Manchester police identify man killed in drive-by shooting

MANCHESTER, Jamaica—The police have released the identity of a man who was shot and killed on Villa Road in the parish capital, Friday afternoon.

He is 48-year-oldWigonLemardotherwisecalled 'Junior', a resident of Redwood Close in Mandeville.

Reports are that shortly after 2:00 pmLemardwas walking along Villa Road and when he reached the intersection withdeCarteretRoad he was gunned down in what witnesses say was a drive-by shooting.

When theOBSERVER ONLINE arrived on the scene, a number of onlookers had already converged on the scene.

One onlooker said he saw a car stop close toLemardas the latter was walking away from thecentreof Mandeville and he heard gunshots.

“Earlier miseehim (Lemard) a walk come from out of the town and not too long after mi hear gunshots. I hear a car stop and soon after it move off. When mi look me see 'Rasta' [the deceased] lay down at the side of the roadponhim belly,” he said.
