KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) announced today that it has selected Connect Worldwide (CWW Japan) to represent Jamaica in the Japanese market.

According to CWW Japan, Connect Worldwide is the fastest growing global travel representation company.

The JTB said CWW Japan will offer support in developing strategies, implementing airline route development, engaging travel trade, and executing public relations and social media activities to increase Japanese travel to Jamaica.

“Japan is an important source market for Jamaica. The destination is committed to growing arrivals from this country and we hope to surpass previous totals of up to 20,000 visitors per year. The appointment of Connect Worldwide as representatives of the Jamaica Tourist Board is a big step toward achieving that goal,” Donovan White, Jamaica's Director of Tourism was quoted as saying.

CWW Japan President Marjorie Dewey said that the company is pleased that the JTB is expanding its commitment to Japan and has selected them to lead their efforts.

“A premier destination in the Caribbean, Jamaica offers so much to discover for Japan's experienced travellers. We are confident the Japanese will want to visit the natural world heritage site, sample world famous Blue Mountain coffee, experience distinctive reggae and Jamaican culture, and relax at the beautiful resorts,” Dewey said.

JTB hosted Dewey on a weeklong immersion trip to better understand the Jamaican product.

"After spending a week experiencing Jamaica from Kingston to Ocho Rios to Montego Bay, I'm confident the Japanese will find so much to love here. They will be drawn to the stunning natural beauty, the resorts and the music. The Japanese will be particularly excited by the quality of Jamaican cuisine and the variety of dining experiences. I'm looking forward to working with the Japanese travel trade and media to reintroduce Jamaica to the Japanese market," Dewey said.

The JTB said one of the first projects to be undertaken by CWW Japan is the coordination of the JTB's participation in Tourism Expo Japan 2019.
