Hanover residents disarm gunman, handover shotgun to cops

HANOVER, Jamaica — The police are this morning showering residents in Green Island, Hanover with praises after they disarmed a gunman along the Orange Bay main road in the parish last night.

The residents reportedly accosted the man about 8:40 pm and subsequently handed him over to the police.

According to reports, the accused was armed with a homemade shotgun, loaded with two cartridges.

Police said his identity is being withheld until formal charges are proffered. The lawmen did not provide further information surrounding the incident.
