Ganja worth $8m seized in St Elizabeth

ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — More than 1800 pounds of ganja was seized during an operation by the police in Comma Pen, St Elizabeth yesterday.

Reports are that detectives conducted a special anti-narcotics operation about 6:30 am during which they found the ganja and other paraphernalia relating to the narcotics trade. The drug has an estimated street value of J$8 million, the police say. No one was arrested in connection with the find.

The police are now appealing to anyone who may have information about the illicit activity to call the Area 3 Narcotics Office at 635-2617, Narcotics headquarters at 923-5729, Police Emergency Control Centre at 119, Crime Stop at 311 or the nearest police station.
