Firearm seized in Portland, 3 men arrested

KINGSTON, Jamaica— Three men have been taken into custody after the police found a firearm in a vehicle along the Hope Bay main road in Portland on Sunday, October 22.

Reports are that about 4:00 pm members of the Portland Proactive Investigations Unit were carrying out a vehicular check point along the main road when a motorcar was signaled to stop. The vehicle, along with the occupants, were searched and a black Haskell .45 pistol with a magazine containing ten .45 rounds of ammunition found.

The identities of the three men are been withheld pending further investigations, the police say.
