Female security guard shot and killed in Yallahs

ST THOMAS, Jamaica — A 34-year-old security guard was shot dead while by an unknown assailant while walking to a bus stop in Yallahs, St Thomas yesterday.

Reports are that Jahleet Jefferey, who is from the area was walking with her child's father, who is also a security officer when they were pounced on by a gunman.

The gunman shot at them several times and Jefferey was hit in the back.

Her child's father, who is a licence firearm holder, pulled his 9mm Glock pistol and returned the fire at the gunman who made good his escape.

It is not known whether the gunman was hit.

Jefferey was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
