David Noel appointed president of JBA

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Banker's Association (JBA) today announced the appointment of David Noel as president of the Jamaica Bankers Association (JBA).

Noel, who is also the Senior Vice-President and Head of the Caribbean Central & North and President & CEO, Scotia Group Jamaica Limited was unanimously elected President of JBA at its Annual General Meeting today.

JBA, in a release today, also informed that CEO at JMMB Bank Jerome Smalling and President and CEO at First Global Bank, Mariame McIntosh-Robinson were also elected as Vice President and Treasurer of the JBA respectively.

CEO at MF&G Trust Weldon Maddan, was returned as Honorary Secretary.

JBA said in accepting his election to the Association's top leadership position, David Noel expressed appreciation to the JBA Executive Council for their demonstration of confidence in his leadership.

“I wish to convey my appreciation to the JBA Executive Council for the vote of confidence placed in me to lead the advancement of the JBA. Our mission to maintain a stable, secure, competitive and profitable financial industry remains unchanged. We will continue to achieve this through advocacy, education and collaboration with all stakeholders to include the Government of Jamaica, the regulators, private sector partners, international agencies and the general banking public,” he said.

The newly elected JBA President also recognized outgoing president Nigel Holness, Managing Director First Caribbean International Bank, for his “sterling contribution to the Association and by extension, to the banking industry”.

JBA said Noel, was appointed SVP & Head of the Caribbean Central & North and President & CEO, Scotia Group Jamaica Limited in November, 2017.

Prior to this he served as the Managing Director for the Caribbean East region with responsibility for Barbados, Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St Lucia, St Kitts & Nevis, St Maarten and St Vincent and the Grenadines.
