Cops seize over 500 pounds of ganja in St Mary

ST MARY, Jamaica — Detectives assigned to the St Mary Police Division reportedly seized a quantity of ganja on Paggee Beach in the vicinity of Quebec River in Port Maria yesterday.

Reports are that over 500 pounds of the narcotic was found after lawmen went on an operation in the area about 2:45 pm. The cops reportedly spotted men putting knitted bags on a boat and approached to investigate.

The men, however, set sail on their approach. The area that they left was searched and 14 knitted bags containing ganja were found.

The ganja weighs approximately 579 pounds and has an estimated street value of $2,316,000.

No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.

The police said investigations are continuing.
