ST JAMES, Jamaica — The St James woman who is accused of stealing a baby in the parking lot at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay on January 4 is set to appear in the St James Parish Court tomorrow.

The woman, 26-year-old Melissa Harriot of Norwood in St James, was formally charged with child stealing after the baby was reportedly recovered on January 6 when lawmen were contacted by citizens who gave information leading to her whereabouts.

Harriot and her boyfriend were subsequently arrested in Green District in Norwood.

It is said that the baby's mother had asked Harriot, who allegedly befriended her, to hold the baby while she went to the restroom.

However, when the mother returned, both her baby and Harriot were gone.
