Through the brand Absolute New York, local distributor The Beauty Spot has confirmed its committment as official skincare and make-up sponsor of Miss Jamaica World (MJW) 2018.

As sponsor, The Beauty Spot will provide make-up services at all major events in the run up to the finals of the competition. This includes the photo and video shoots for the contestants. In addition, they will conduct beauty and skincare workshops with the finalists.

Yaquema Sewell, manager of the EC Makeup Bar, one of The Beauty Spot's retail outlets, recently gave a preview of the products to Miss Jamaica World 2017 Solange Sinclair and noted that the brand will appeal to a wide range of consumers.

“Absolute New York is feminine, flirty, and fun. It's designed to complete any head-to-toe beauty regime so every woman can enhance her beauty while making that one-of-a-kind statement. Like the Miss Jamaica World franchise, we therefore celebrate every Jamaican woman,” said Sewell.

Weston Haughton of MJW franchise holders Crown of Beauty Jamaica Limited is very excited about the partnership.

“Jamaica not only has some of the most beautiful women in the world, but beauty that is so diverse. That has been evident in our Miss World title holders and in the scores of queens who have gone on to succesfully represent us at the international level. It is important to us that Miss Jamaica World reinforces a sense of confidence in Jamaican women about their own beauty,” Haughton noted.

The organisers are currently scouting for potential contestants. Following the eliminations on July 21, the presentation of finalists in the Miss Jamaica World 2018 pageant will take place on July 28 at the Gardens at the Jamaica Pegasus. The Grand Coronation Show is set for that hotel's ballroom on September 1.

Jamaica has won the Miss World title on three occasions — first in 1963 with Carole Joan Crawford then Cindy Breakespeare in 1976, and Lisa Hanna in 1993.
