Great sets at Cosmic Rotation 12

Saturday, June 01, 2019

Corporate Area live music scene received a big boost with last Wednesday's staging of Cosmic Rotation 12.

The series, which had a good turnout of patrons, was held at the C&C South Beach in New Kingston.

Among the performers were singers Abby Dallas, Jerone, SkyGrass, J-Airi, Justine Rookwood, Bugle, and Irie Souljah. Nomaddz member Sheldon Shepherd made a surprise appearance.

“The experience was really great and the reception from the patrons was amazing. I saw that the patrons loved the music and I enjoyed every minute of it,” said singer Jerone, a top-10 finalist in Digicel Rising Stars in 2017.

His current single Brother's Keeper was well received by the audience.

Singer Abby Dallas was also upbeat with the reception that she received.

“The energy was hype. This was my first time performing at Cosmic Rotation, and I would like to big up the organisers for having me and giving me the opportunity,” said Dallas.

Jheanelle Jackson, a member of the Cosmic Rotation team, believes the resurgence in live music in Kingston has filled a void on the entertainment scene.

“I think there's a resurgence happening right now. A lot of venues are now doing live music because it has a following and patrons are interested in it,” she said.

Simon Bowden, a member of the group SkyGrass and a co-promoter of Cosmic Rotation, said: WWe started the series because of a lull in live music events. People are looking for good music, good events to go to and good performances.”

He continued: “This staging is a special one and with every staging, the energy continues to grow. The performances are always energetic and the patrons feed off that energy.”

The next Cosmic Rotation is scheduled for later this month.
