SATURDAY'S tribute concert held in honour of Bob Marley's 67th birthday anniversary at Vin Lawrence Park in Trench Town, was more of a salute to the birthplace of reggae.

Marley recorded two hit songs bearing the name of the community in Trench Town and Trench Town Rock. He also made reference to Trench Town in No Woman No Cry.

From Saturady night into the wee hours of Sunday morning, the Kingston 12 community was grooving. The massive crowd comprising of local and foreign fans were treated with continuously hit songs by vintage and contemporary artistes, many of used to reside in Trench Town.

Members of the audience who came early given a great show by acts such as the veteran duo Bunny and Scully, the Psalmist Dawit Congo, Mr Excellence, The Informative History Man, Earth Disciples, Jennifer Barrett, EQ, Aaron Silk, Tinga Stewart, Censi Love, Iba Mahr, Christopher Ellis (son of Alton Ellis, one of the household names of Trench Town).

Things were taken a notch up with Romain Virgo, Tarrus Riley, old school deejay Tappa Zukie (David Sinclair). Deejays Wayne Marshall came 'swaging' along Tifa and Bounty Killer.

Putting the icing on the cake, were the Marley boys. Five came on stage. They were Stephen, Kymani, Damian, Julian and Rohan, the businessman.

In this closing segment, the Marleys invited a number of surprise guest performers to share the spotlight including Jah Cure, Junior Reid, Proteje and Capleton.
