The Stone Love Award goes to...
Simone Morgan
Friday, February 03, 2012
On Wednesday night the veteran sound system Stone Love transformed their weekly dance Weddy Weddy into awards nitght -- to the honour some of dancehall's finest entertainers of 2011.
Winston 'Wee Pow' Powell, founder of the sound system which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, says he believes that the awards greatly enhance the careers of the recipients and cement their careers as professional entertainers.
"We know that with the creation of this event, people will take our dancehall performers more seriously. When they go to the embassy for a visa to perform overseas, they can say I am a dancer," he said.
