Peter Tosh to be awarded Order of Merit

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Reggae icon Peter Tosh is to be awarded with the National honour of the Order of Merit today.
Tosh, whose real name is Winston Hubert McIntosh, is being honoured for his contribution to evolution of Jamaican popular music.
Other entertainment personalities to be honoured with the Order of Jamaica are Bunny Wailer and Toots Hibbert.
Peter Asbourne will also be honoured with the Order of Distinction.
The awards will be conferred at during the Independence Day gala at the National Stadium this evening.
