Miss Universe Jamaica, Emily Maddison, will be making runway appearances in Trinidad and Tobago as special guest at Style Week Port of Spain 2018, scheduled from yesterday to Sunday.
She is expected to headline the Dermoth Williams Couture collection by Uzuri International entitled Treasures. It will feature two collections: one, a resort line and the other a serious couture collection of exotic evening gowns — featuring designers Karl Williams and Mark McDermoth's celebration of bold colours, flowing lines, sexy cuts and intricate jewelling.
“We definitely introduced a few new elements in this collection but tried to maintain our primary fashion aesthetics as, at the end of the day, you want to be able to continue appealing to your main clientele and the fans who support you consistently. But what allows you to grow and expand is that ability to attract new fans, and we bore that in mind when we assembled this collection for the Trinidad audience and hope that they find it exciting and alluring,” said Karl Williams.
“We fell in love with Trinidad when we last visited for Miss Universe in 1999, and we can't wait to return. We thank Christopher Nathan and his team for creating this wonderful vehicle, Style Week Port of Spain and for allowing us to be special guest designers and the only visiting fashion brand. This means a great deal to us and is the reason we are so excited to unveil this collection, which is in part inspired by the same sensibilities that characterise the Trinidadian spirit. We wish Christopher Nathan and his team every success with Style Week Port of Spain 2018,” Mark McDermoth added.
For Maddison, this will be her first time in the two-island republic and she has been expressing nothing but excitement, especially about experiencing Tobago with its reputation for having great beaches and being green and untouched.
“I'm so excited about my upcoming trip to Trinidad and Tobago and look forward to experiencing the cuisine, culture and natural beauty of this fascinating country. I also look forward to meeting Martrecia, Miss Universe T & T, and possibly assisting with any projects or charities she is working with at this time,” said Maddison.
She is currently preparing for the Miss Universe pageant in Bangkok, Thailand, where she will represent Jamaica on December 16.
