Friday, March 30, 2012

SOCA fans attending this year's edition of Beach J'Ouvert are being promised "more fun, more fete, more bacchanal".

Heading the list of attractions at the multicoloured paint frenzy — which is set for the James Bond Beach in Oracabesa, St Mary, on Saturday April 7 — is Trinidad and Tobago's soca star Machel Montano.

Montano will be backed by his band Machel Montano HD. The soca party will also feature Trinidad's Patrice Roberts who is also a member of Montano's band. Roberts is best known for songs such as The Islands, Sugar Boy and Slow Wine. Musical mixings will be provided by Renaissance DJ Smoke and DJ Bambino.

Throughout the day, Smirnoff will be serving up drink mixes one of which will be their latest — Avatar.

The 2012 Bacchanal Jamaica series will continue with Soca at De Sandbar on April 11, Bacchanal J'Ouvert on April 13 followed by the Road March on April 15.

Sponsors of this year's staging include the Jamaica Observer, Appleton Jamaica Rum, Pure Country, RJR 94 FM, Ammar's, and the Heart Institute of the Caribbean.
