Dear Editor,

The Lupus Foundation of Jamaica community, executive board, and members are deeply saddened by news of the passing of the beautiful and inspiring Zandrea Bailey on January 13, 2019.

Zandrea will be remembered as the brave lupus warrior who became a Miss Jamaica top 10 finalist and chose to share her story with the world.

In doing so, she contributed immensely both to raising awareness about lupus and to encouraging and inspiring not only individuals with lupus but also people facing any challenge to live their dreams and live life to the fullest.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her father and the rest of her family at this very difficult time.

[The Lupus Foundation of Jamaica is a voluntary patient organisation and has been in operation since 1984. It aspires to improve the outcome of systemic lupus erythematosus through a better awareness and a deeper understanding of the disease. One of its major activities is patient support and counselling. The foundation encourages research in areas of diagnosis and treatment of lupus.]
