Makandal DaagaTenable at: UWI St Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago

Named in honour of Makandal Daaga, liberator and social activist of Trinidad and Tobago who spearheaded the 'Black Power Movement', the scholarship is aimed at creating lawyers who will be meaningful change agents who promote justice and an egalitarian society. Candidates may be of any age, gender, race or Caricom nationality. Interested candidates must include in their application an essay of no more than 350 words describing their work and activism and explaining how earning a law degree will enhance this work. Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships

Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships are offered for citizens of developing Commonwealth countries in key development areas. Intended beneficiaries are high-quality postgraduate students who wish to access training not available in their home countries, who wish or need to remain in their home country while they study, and who have the potential to enhance the development of their home countries with the knowledge and leadership skills they acquire. CCRIF Scholarship Programme

Provides scholarships to citizens of Caricom or CCRIF member countries to pursue a master's degree in hazard/disaster-related disciplines at Caribbean universities (other than The UWI), as well as institutions in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada. Visit

International Seabed Authority At-Sea Exploration Training Programme 2018

The Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC), in accordance with its exploration contract for cobalt-rich ferromanganese crusts with the International Seabed Authority, is offering four at-sea training places for candidates from developing States within its 2018 training programme.

The programme aims to provide on-board work and investigative techniques for cobalt-rich ferromanganese crusts by developing investigative planning skills, on-board work experience and data analysis and interpretation skills. The programme is planned for May - June, 2018 for a duration of 40 days. Applications should be submitted by email, in one of the official languages of the International Seabed Authority to by May 26, 2017.


JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation

The total to be expended for 2017-2018 is upward of $7 million, including $1.75 million in new awards. A portion of the award is to be allocated to support programmes in the creative arts at Edna Manley School of the Visual and Performing Arts and journalism at Caribbean Institute of Media and Communication. CCRIF-UWI Scholarship Programme

Provides scholarships to citizens of Caricom or CCRIF member countries for undergraduate and postgraduate study at The UWI in fields such as natural resource management, climate change, meteorology, geography/geology, and civil/environmental engineering. Provides opportunities for university graduates who are citizens of Caricom or CCRIF member countries, who have specialised in the areas of disaster risk management, environmental management, actuarial science, geography, climate studies, and other similar areas to be assigned to national and regional organisations for practical work assignments


GraceKennedy Foundation
