Alliance Franšaise appoints new head

The Alliance Franšaise de la Jama´que has announced its appointment of a new executive director in the person of Marie-NoŰlle Brunot.

A native of Martinique, Brunot comes to Jamaica from St Lucia, where she was culture, cooperation and communication project officer for the Alliance Franšaise in that country. Prior to that, she served at the United Nations Development Programme in Trinidad and Tobago, worked with the Martinique central government, and in Jamaica, held positions at the Delegation of the European Union and the Ministry of Health.

She holds masters degrees in risk management (earned at the Institute of Political Studies in Bordeaux, France), politics and international cooperation (awarded by The University of the West Indies, Mona), and political science (earned at the University of the French West Indies, Martinique).

The Alliance Franšaise, headquartered in Paris, is an international organisation that aims to promote French language and culture around the world. Created in 1883, its mandate is twofold: teaching French as a second language, and promoting French and Francophone cultures. It has 850 centres in 137 countries, on five continents.

Alliance Franšaise de la Jama´que started in 1956.
