Hot Rides turn on flames in Portmore

Friday, July 14, 2017

P atrons were more than pleased with the return of automotive night life to Portmore, St Catherine, with the recent staging of Exotic Cars & Fashion Hot Rides Link Up held at Buy Big Plaza close to town's centre.

Exotic Cars & Fashion made a name for itself in the automotive entertainment field by blending fashion with the standard car show format and concentrating more on high-end Euro scene. However, the event has not been held for a few years now.

“It's been a while since the last Exotic Cars & Fashion event, so we wanted to rekindle that vibe,” Conrie Jackson, event organiser, told Auto.

According to Jackson, Hot Rides was the first step for the future of Exotic Cars & Fashion.

“The event went fairly well. We had a fair turnout and the classics from the Jamaica Classic Car Club took the spotlight. Apart from a small glitch with the sound system, Hot Rides had a good flow,” he explained.

And that it did. The event proved the perfect spot not only for gearheads to participate in the event, but created a constant shift through the night while allowing others to watch. Cars ranged from the expected softer, more subtle European performance models to hardcore Japanese machines with their boisterous appearances and noises.

“We had well over 50 cars come through for display. We are already planning a next staging,” Jackson said.
