DEXTERITY fans’ desire for unbridled action will be fulfilled at The Bay Speed Dexterity Series at the Montego Bay Sports Complex in Catherine Hall, St James, on Sunday.

The event will feature Jamaica's top stunt drivers, ‘drifters’ and ‘spinners’ reigniting old rivalries and stoking the flames of new ones. It is scheduled to start at 2:00 pm.

Ameer Johnson, hot-shot drifter and event promoter, told Auto to expect a day of thrills as drivers tackle an obstacle course with 180- and 360-degree turns for cash prizes and bragging rights.

According to him, though seasoned drivers are welcome to enter, the event is organised to encourage upcoming talent.

“I've been competing in dexterity events for about two years now and, as a driver, I know that we spend a lot of money on vehicle upkeep to compete in these events, sometimes as much as $30,000 per event,” said Johnson.

“The cash prizes are our way of giving back to the drivers and providing an incentive for them to compete. We expect a large turnout, at least 25 entrants,” he continued.

Veteran drivers expected to showcase their skills on the tarmac include Maurice ‘Wurl Boss’ Whittingham, Cleve ‘Cutta Hype’ Ottey, Dennis ‘Krossbreed’ Bicarie, Richard Chan, Tony Fu, and Marcus Barnes.

The competition will consist of a 4x1 relay, during which teams will go toe-to-toe on the obstacle courses, a championship run, a shootout challenge, a rookie faceoff, and a freestyle competition.
