It was a welcome victory for Montegonian driver Cleve “Cutta Hype” Ottey in his Toyota Starlet at Slippery Wen Wett: The Return of the Hype, held at Pines Plaza, St Elizabeth, recently.

“It felt great to return and win. I left with a positive feeling,” Ottey told the Jamaica Observer's weekly Auto magazine.

For his efforts, Ottey collected prize money in three categories: $50,000 for his overall victory, $15,000 for the fastest rear-wheel-drive vehicle, and $15,000 for the fastest single lap.

“I have won this event before, but I just came with what I had and did my best,” he explained.

Ottey fended off challenges from fellow Montegonian Nicholas Barnes in his Toyota Corolla and JETCON Racing's Joel Jackson in his Nissan Silvia.

“Slippery Wen Wett: The Return of the Hype was great and flowed smoothly,” Ottey added.

Event organiser Kingsley Scott said his team would be looking at topping what was done for next year's staging. The first staging was held in 2008.
