A young woman from Hanover accused of trying to extort $30,000 from a 17-year-old college student, after threatening her with nude photos on which her face was photoshopped, was remanded when she appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.

The 20-year-old accused, Trudy-Ann Knib, is charged with extortion, conspiracy to extort, and access with Internet to facilitate the commission of an offence.

The accused was remanded on Friday after her attorney, Ronald Parish, who was absent, asked for the matter to be rescheduled for mention on June 27.

According to the police, in February the accused sent nude photoshopped pictures bearing the complainant's face to her cellular phone via Whatsapp and threatened to post them on the Internet and on social media if the complainant did not give her $30, 000 by February 27.

The complainant reportedly paid over $15,000 to the accused.

She later reported the matter and the accused was arrested and charged on May 26.
