Commonwealth Games: Thomas Dodd wins shot put title with record throw

GOLD COAST, Australia — Jamaica's Danniel Thomas Dodd took the women's shot put title with a new record at the Commonwealth Games currently underway in Gold Coast, Australia.

She struck gold with a winning throw of 19.36 metres. This is also her first senior gold medal in the event.

In second place is Dame Valerie Adams of New Zealand with a throw of 18.70, while third place went to Canada's Brittany Crew with a throw of 18.32.
