#NominationDay: PNP's Hayle nominated

KINGSTON, Jamaica — People's National Party (PNP) candidate for the St Andrew North Western March 5 by-election, Keisha Hayle completed her nomination at the Pembroke Hall Community Centre in the constituency a short while ago.

Hayle, in an interview, said she was 100 per cent backed by the PNP.

At 11: 25 am the candidate paid the nomination fee with three $1,000 bills.

The nomination centre will remain opened between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.

The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) candidate Nigel Clarke is expected to be nominated at 1:00 pm.

The seat, which has been held by the JLP for 29 years, was left vacant by the departure of former Member of Parliament Derrick Smith.

A total of 112 polling stations across 21 voting locations will be used in St Andrew North Western.

The law requires that nomination day be at least five clear days after the announcement of an election; and election day, a minimum of 16 and a maximum of 23 days after nomination day.
